The mobile scales have been a great addition to my nutrition consulting business. People are always surprised when I turn up in a medium sized car and pull out the scales, they are very quick and easy to set up, I was even doing it 7 months pregnant!
Having an accurate weight is much more useful than a lot of people realise - weight gain and loss is just the start of it, legal towing capacity and drug dosage are also dependent on weight - at one weigh in day (run in conjunction with an ulcer scoping day) we found one horse that hadn't responded well to treatment weighed quite a lot more than had been assumed, ulcer treatment dose was increased, and 6 weeks later they had healed up!

I've weighed hundreds of horses now, from 50kg to 900kg and I think there has been one horse that wouldn't go on, and one that took 25 minutes, but the majority either walk straight on or are on within a couple of minutes."
